Why Didn’t My Virus Scan Find Anything If My Computer Is Infected?

First Line of Defense

Your computer is not working so you run your virus scan software that came with your computer. Somehow your computer is still not working even after running the application. Maybe your antivirus software is not updating so it is not looking for the new viruses that came out after the antivirus software was installed.

Virus Scan Software

Virus scan software is only as good as the configurations and maintenance that you do. Most virus scan software is written to automate the update process but you have to turn on the update. Another reason that your virus scan software may not have found what your computer is infected with is that your virus scan software has expired and it no longer accepts requests for updates. If this is not the case, then you may not have a virus.

It Might Not be a Virus

Either of the above issues may keep you from being able to thoroughly clean your computer of infiltrations. Although the problem may really be a virus, it could also be spyware. Virus scan software is designed to search and remove viruses. A lot of the newer applications come with an anti-spyware feature as well, but they are not as reliable as spyware removal applications.

Download Spyware Removal Software

If you find that you have updated virus scan software but you still have the trouble then it is very possible that you do have spyware. There are a lot of free downloads designed to eliminate spyware that comes from the wrong choice of download. Choose one that will fulfill the requirements you have to clean out your computer. Install the software and run it, making sure you do the updates, and you may find that your problems go away–for now.

One Response to “Why Didn’t My Virus Scan Find Anything If My Computer Is Infected?”

  1. On a completely anecdotal issue (according to my experiences over 16 years- having said that not a huge quantity of those rather possibly a fair dozen) i might say that evidence shows proof.
