Are All Virus Removal Programs Effective?



When you choose a program to scan and remove viruses from your computer, you are making the choice to protect your computer. If you are a network administrator, you are installing software on the network to protect every computer on it. Not all virus programs are created equal and some are better than others. Spending more money does not always guarantee that a computer user gets a better product. Some free anti-virus program are very effective, while commercial programs are simply a waste of the user’s money. Not all free and commercial programs are effective, however.




What Virus Removal Programs are Effective for the Home User?

Avast and Anti-virus Guard are popular anti-virus programs that are free to the home user. In many cases, they offer superior protection than the home edition of Norton or McAffee’s software that serves the same purpose. Which program a home user installs on his or her computer often comes down to a matter of choice or a matter. AVG and Avast anti-virus programs are effective, as are Norton and McAffee. Avast proves to be slightly more effective than the commercial programs. Network administrators should pay for the extra tools that allows the e-mail server to scan e-mail for harmful attachments. For large networks, Norton proves to be best commercial grade security tool available.

If Not All Virus Removal Programs are Effective, Then Which Ones Aren’t?


When downloading a virus removal program from the Internet, the user should exercise caution about where he or she gets these from. Read reviews and ask technical support people to find out if a particular virus removal program will work for you. A number of the programs advertised on television direct the user to a web site that scans the user’s computer for viruses and malware. With the exception of malware bytes, these do not offer effective virus removal tools.
